A commonly asked question is: “why are some litters smaller and others are bigger?” Well, it’s because like other mammals, rabbit uterus’ have two horns. During a breeding, one horn will get fertilized. Rabbits can come back into heat around 24 hours after being bred; this is where the other horn is now fertile and if she is bred in this time frame then she is now carrying two litters you might say. The same is similar with dogs! You might’ve heard how in a litter of puppies, there can be two fathers. This is because the dog was fertile two times, and it’s the same with rabbits!
Here is your fun fact for the day, and when you think about it maybe also send some prayers and thoughts our girl’s way. This is a big litter of NINE (a new PR for our pair) and rabbits only have six teats to feed them with so we’re going to be ready to help her out if need be. Thank you for reading!
